don’t guess, Test!
Testing
Job Matching, Fit-for-Duty Testing, Return to Duty Testing, Physical Abilities Testing, and Functional Capacity Evaluation.
After the job analysis is completed, it is used to develop a description of physical demands and a test that replicates the work.
Benefits of Testing:
Assist with hiring the right person for the job (Pre-Offer Testing/ Post-Offer Pre-employment testing, Job Matching)
Assist HR in hiring and/or placement by testing an employee/candidate in the essential job functions
Assist the medical team in determining return to work status, areas for opportunity, and discharge or continuation with care
We can work with your employee’s physician to help determine the appropriateness of Job Match Testing or accommodations for an employee’s ability to perform work safely
Decreases injuries by ensuring the employee is fit to return to work after a work-related or non-work-related injury
Assesses proper lifting techniques for each new hire and employee returning to work from an injury
Identifying new hires who may need a specific stretching and/or strengthening program to manage the demands of the job
Improve company culture and employee morale
Considerations:
Re-certification every two years or immediately as the job/environment changes
All documents are validated, especially the tests, to ensure accuracy and compliance
All testing is performed by a licensed medical professional certified in DSI’s Job Function Matching System.
Validated tests and company policy must be in place to ensure compliance with job matching and testing programs (i.e., Uniform Guidelines on Employment Selection Procedures, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Civil Rights Act Compliance and U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commissions (EEOC)
Return to duty/ Fit-for-duty testing
Return to duty testing can be used to help determine if an employee is ready to:
Establish if an employee can return to work after an injury
Prevent re-injury by identifying specific physical and task-related areas of opportunity and developing a work hardening or conditioning program to address these areas and set the employee up for long-term success
Fit-for-duty testing assesses the employee’s ability to perform essential job functions safely anytime someone is observed working unsafely or if there is a safety concern.
Functional Capacity Evaluation
To Identify the employee's maximum capacity through a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE).
This 4-8 hour evaluation uses a series of tests to identify a person’s physical skills, functional capacity, task endurance, and work tolerance.
The test is administered by a physical therapist or occupational therapist specifically trained to evaluate and observe the employee's effort during this test.
Specific work tasks may be simulated during the FCE to evaluate if the employee can return safely, assist with return-to-work restrictions, or determine if there is a need for accommodations.
A comprehensive report is also provided to the referring physicians and any other necessary entities (lawyer, insurance adjustor, case manager, etc.)
